'Small but perfectly formed'

Tucked away at the end of L'anse Aux Épines Beach in the southern tip of the lush, spice island of Grenada is the Calabash Hotel. Thirty rooms sit in a horseshoe formation on eight acres of beautifully landscaped gardens which look toward Prickley Bay. Well known for its award-winning cuisine, and personal and attentive service. Also, the hotel features a newly opened Heaven & Earth Spa. The Calabash Hotel captures the essence of the unpretentious and gracious style of the Caribbean.

In Our Opinion

'Scubatech Grenada located on the Calabash beach provides a full range of scuba diving and training options, including entry level qualifications, enriched air, rebreathers and sail dive cruises as well as conventional dive boat trips'

Thirty suites are set in a horseshoe shape, all have garden and sea views leading down to the beach. Eight of the suites have the luxury of their own private plunge pools (as well as a whirlpool bath- these bathrooms have also been recently refurbished), twenty-two have whirlpools in their bathroom. Within the suites guests will find a bedroom, a comfortable lounge area and a patio or balcony. All have the benefit of air conditioning, ceiling fans, mini bar, hair dryer, personal safe, bath, shower, bathrobes, CD player, clock radio, iron & ironing board and tea and coffee making facilities There is also a new 5 bedroom villa located on the exclusive Amber Belair estate adjacent to the hotel.

The Calabash Hotel has eight acres of tropical gardens; a fine beach with lots of shade trees, all set in a natural cove called Prickley Bay, where swimming is particularly safe for all ages. Sports Facilities include complimentary watersports from the beach, floodlit tennis courts, snooker and billiards room, a large guest swimming pool, fitness room, shuffleboard and beach boules. A local Golf course is just ten minutes from the hotel and complimentary green fees are available to guests. An Entertainment Manager's cocktail party is held once a week at the pool bar or beach bar. There is also live music hosted at the hotel during the week, and a TV room which is equipped with internet access and a library. In addition to this, the Calabash Hotel is renowned for its gourmet cuisine which includes two a la carte dining venues, the main restaurant, and even early evening canapes served in your room. The fine dining restaurant Rhodes now features new menus. Most Sundays the hotel also holds a tantalising barbeque at Jefferson's - perfect for relaxing and enjoying some good food and wine.

Children's Facilities

Not ideal for families with young children or people who want non-stop action but they do provide entertainment in the high season and the concierge also arranges tours and sailing trips.

Most Sundays the hotel also holds a tantalising barbeque at Jefferson's - perfect for relaxing and enjoying good food and wine. The 'rhodes restaurant' at Calabash was opened in January 2004 and has proved a real hit with residents of Calabash and outside diners alike. The à la carte menu developed specifically for Calabash by Gary Rhodes places a high importance on locally grown seasonal produce, all of which is supplied by the best sources as approved by Gary. The Calabash is the only hotel in the Caribbean to be a certified base of City and Guilds. Calabash's 'Rhodes Restaurant' is popular locally and invariably busy each night, so reservations are necessary.
